The needs assessment and gap analysis documents for each level have been posted on the documents page. These have been developed based off of the surveys, focus groups, and correspondence that we have received from stakeholders. As well, the root of the needs assessment comes from the Kansas Scope of Practice document itself.
We continue to value constructive input into this process. Our next step is the development of objectives in preparation to begin writing lesson plans.

Jon, as a training officer my fellow EMT B, EMT I, keep asking me what kind of test they’ll have to take during the “ugrade” to the new scope. Has this been determined?
Thanks,
Manrico

Manrico,
The “test” has not been determined yet. As we develop the courses we will be including evaluation tools for instructors to use to assess competency in the skills and knowledge. However, as to if technicians will be required to pass a specific test, written or practical, has not been determined. The medical directors would like to see this. The educators would like to see this. But it is up to the Board of EMS as to if this will be required and they have the financial impact and legal issues to wrestle with before they make a decision.

Jon,
Thanks for the prompt reply. Speaking as a TO in a small dept I too would like to see an outside test set up.
