The Friesen Group is a resource and advising group located in North Newton, Kansas. We are the contractor charged with developing the curricula that will bridge existing first responders, EMT-Basics, and EMT-Intermediates to the new levels of Emergency Medical Responder, EMT, and Advanced EMT. This curricula development work will occur between June of 2009 and August of 2010. We will be developing and delivering train the trainer courses for instructors in the fall of 2010 and the new course material is slated to be available for use in 2011. All existing Kansas EMS attendants at these levels will be required to attend and complete the appropriate modules in order to bridge to the new certification levels in Kansas. This will be done by the end of their respective recertification cycles that end in 2012 or 2013. For more information about the change in scope of practice and the certification levels, download the KEMSSAF document from the documents page of this site.
Our expertise includes organizational development, curriculum development, coaching, and facilitation. In our interactions, we seek to treat clients and colleagues as we would want to be treated.
Our Approach to the EMS Curriculum Development Process
Every change process, including this one, is vulnerable to unintended consequences. We understand that in large-scale projects of this type, it’s better to plan for and engage in ongoing feedback, adjustments, and clean-up rather than waiting until the end. Our goal is to reduce the risks by acting to collaborate and communicate, accepting the challenges of the transition, and being disciplined about the delivery process.
We recognize that this is important work. We are committed to getting it done — through involving all stakeholders, being creative, and delivering on time.
We strive to make a difference in the communities, rural and urban, that make up the state of Kansas and fundamentally change the EMS customer experience.
